In my last post I have mentioned the players in and out in my first season with Villarreal. Now lets take a look at the general year as a whole.
Villarreal struggles in Euro Cup as a big challange, besides Spanish cup and of course league.At the end of the season, everyone who loves and supports Villarreal were over the moon. Because the season was better than the dream of the fans.
We have completed the league in the 3rd position and it was a fantastic result. That was what the fans were expecting for a long time. Last such a glorious position was the runner up at 2008 coming with Manuel Pellegrini. This first season showed the fans that the next seasons will be more challanging and exiciting.
4 defeats, 11 drawn and 23 wins are the final situation at the end of the 38 matches. When taking a look at the league table, it is obvious that Villarreal is the team which scored least among the first 5 teams. So this is the point where I will focus next year. When you take a look at the fixture, indeed it is too easy to see this goal scoring problem.
As you can also see from the screenshot, most of the matches I won, there is one goal in scoresheet for Villarreal.
Another excellent result and unexpected one undoubtfully was the Spanish Cup after long years waiting.
But I must confess that I was lucky because until semi-final I had met with the teams who are not stronger than me.. After semi-final, Atletico Madrid and Sevilla shoed themselves but I am happy to see these result while I am at the seat of Villarreal.
This is the first cup for the fans as a gift but I am glad that not just the one... Another cup, second biggest cup of the Europe was on my hand after beating FC Timişoara, Olympiakos, Rosenborg,Jablonec in the groups.
After the groups, I have met with Aston Villa, Lille, Beşiktaş, Liverpool, Atletico Madrid respectively.
I want to mention about Atletico Madrid. Atletico Madrid is my favourite team in FMs. This year I made a change and started with Yellow Submarines but what a pity for At. Madrid that they met me :)
